The longer you use the services of Sittercity the more you’re going to want to make use of their other features. Having access to the sitters (direct communication) and the background checks provide such great convenience. So if you’re still just using their basic services, I recommend you upgrade.

I think parents are more careful these days when it comes to hiring a sitter. I know I am. The reason for it is because there are more resources when it comes to childcare. For starters, there’s Sittercity. Growing up in the early 90s, my parents didn’t have much of a choice but to hire anyone who was willing to watch us. But with Sittercity, I have a very different outlook when hiring a babysitter.

I was able to hire a couple of amazing sitters on my free account but that was some time ago. I wouldn’t know much about the free account since I’m a paying member now. Nonetheless, the free account is the best way to learn more about Sittercity. I’d check it out if I were you.

The free account is a good way to get to know Sittercity. You can always upgrade from there. It’s up to you but it’s worth trying out the free account.

In reply to ejeans. Running background checks is the reason why I joined Sittercity. I couldn’t do that on a free account. I’m not saying that the free account is useless because it’s not. I started with it but I couldn’t run any background checks. Although I could still see the badges of the sitters, there was no way for me to do any kind of serious research on them. I feel a lot safer as a paid user.

I’d also like to add another thing that you can’t do on a free account. You can’t write a review on the babysitter. For me, it’s important to be able to write a review. As a parent, I rely on the reviews. So, I can imagine other parents feeling the same way.

You can actually do a lot on a free Sittercity account. For example, you can see the bios of the sitters, filter your search, and post a job. You can also try to find a last-minute sitter but you’ll have better luck by messaging the sitters directly. Unfortunately, you can only do that if you’re a paying member.

When you log into your Sittercity account, you can easily filter your search by filling up the When, Rate, and More boxes seen on the left-hand side of the screen. Location is automatically filled up with your zip code. You just have to fill up the box that says Babysitters within by clicking on the arrow down. Once you click on the Filter tab, you will be able to search for sitters within your area. It’s super easy to do and you can do it on a free account.

In reply to tomie. Hi. You can only send a message to a sitter if you’re a paid member of Sittercity. While you can see the sitter’s profile, you won’t be able to send a message and schedule an interview with a free account.

I usually get emails from Sittercity informing me of sitters who live nearby. Even if I’m not looking for a sitter at the moment, I know that I can always find one when I need one. I can just message the sitter and wait for her to reply. I find that process very helpful. Now, I’m a paid member so I’m not sure if that’s available on a free account.
