Usually the sitters state in their resumes that they’re certified to do First Aid. What I usually ask is the validity of their certification. First Aid certification is only good for a year. They need to undergo training every year.

With Sittercity, I don’t need to ask for a resume. The sitters have their resumes posted on their profiles. I can easily look them over first before connecting to any of them. Saves a lot of time on my part.

Just like any mom, I get very paranoid every time I need to hire someone to babysit my sons. But upon discovering sittercity, I have learned to search the right way. It’s not a 100% guarantee but I have peace of mind.

I am very particular with the age of the babysitter. I want someone that is in her mid 30s. They’re more matured and have more experience in child care. Age is the first thing I mention in my job posts.

I always make sure that we establish the rate right away. The applicant may seem perfect for the job but if I can’t afford her, what’s the use?
